Medical Assistant 2 (MA) Ophthalmology Clinic
Medical Assistants provide non‑licensed medical support to medical care providers in an outpatient setting. Incumbents room patients; set up equipment and instruments; independently perform, and/or assist providers with performing, exams and procedures, including administering injections. With proper provider authorization, they provide instructions, training and advice to patients; call in prescriptions; clean and calibrate equipment; clean and stock exam rooms; and provide proper documentation in patient chart.
Incumbents may also provide front‑office services on a routine or back‑up basis.

- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- Certificate of Completion from a Medical Assistant training program
- Minimum of two (2) years Medical Assistant experience
- Ability to pass the Safe To Practice pharmacology exam
- Ability to utilize relevant medical terminology
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Commitment to excellence in patient care as prescribed by relationship‑based care practices
- Accountability and professionalism
- Support for performance improvement and evidence‑based practice within scope of practice
- Basic understanding of technology and federal regulations pertaining to patient privacy
- Support unit leadership with additional tasks as assigned
- Strong organization and completion of job duties
- Ability to anticipate unit needs and follow through
- Maintain communication with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience using electronic medical records system
- Knowledge of medical terminology
