LTC Research Data Specialist III (Hybrid Option)
Join the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to help shape public health policy through data analysis and research. The role is hybrid, offering up to three remote days per week while reporting in person two days per week.
OverviewThe Research Data Specialist III (RDS III) works under the Chief of the Provider Rates Division (PRD) to design, conduct, and interpret complex research studies that influence Medi-Cal Long‑Term Care (LTC) rate development. The specialist provides independent technical consultation, develops creative solutions, and advises senior management on the feasibility and impact of proposed initiatives and policy changes.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and conduct highly complex studies related to Medi‑Cal LTC services rate development.
- Exercise a high degree of initiative, act independently, and develop creative solutions to problems.
- Provide expert consultative services to senior and executive management on feasibility, impact, and potential of proposed initiatives, policy changes, or programmatic changes.
- Advise Division management on LTC rate development and influence statewide health policy goals.
- Design and direct major, highly complex research projects that may impact multiple divisions.
- Interpret study findings and advise on data integration, process improvement initiatives, and research and evaluation studies.

Desirable Qualifications- Experience with statistical software such as SAS, R, SQL, or Python.
