Pay RangeBase pay: $110.00/hr – $275.00/hr actual compensation is based on skills and experience.
Job Description SummaryThe speech–language pathologist is responsible for implementing standards of care for speech‑language pathology services and for adherence to all conditions in the Service Agreement.
Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities- Conduct appropriate evaluations, assess the home environment (as appropriate), and identify equipment needs relative to speech/language function.
- Identify functional speech defects and establish a plan of care to improve patient’s function.
- Administer speech therapy programs utilizing specialized therapeutic techniques and/or equipment.
- Recommend communication devices or aids as indicated.
- Consult with referring physician and other organization personnel to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care, contributing to the total plan of care.
- Participate in case conferences, in‑services, and other meetings required to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Prepare and submit notes per organization policy.
- Maintain clinical competency in speech‑language pathology practice and theory.
- Identify patient and family/caregiver needs for other services and refer as appropriate.
- Instruct patient, family/caregiver, and other health‑care personnel in the patient’s treatment regime as indicated.
- May supervise a home‑health aide in procedures directly related to the speech‑language therapy plan of care.
- Perform other duties as required to facilitate the delivery of speech‑language pathology services.
- Possesses a master’s or doctoral degree in speech‑language pathology (SLP) and meets one of the following requirements:
- Licensed as an SLP by the state in which services are furnished; or
- If the state does not license SLPs: successfully completed 350 supervised clinical practicum hours (or is in the process of accumulating such hours).
- Performed no less than nine (9) months of supervised full‑time SLP services after obtaining a master’s or doctoral degree in SLP or a related field; and
- Successfully completed an approved national examination in SLP.
- Has a minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in speech‑language pathology.
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication and organization skills.
- Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
- Must possess a valid California Driver’s License with a vehicle that is in good working order and insured in accordance with organization requirements.
- Able to sit occasionally for 1–3 hours.
- Able to frequently stand for 3–6 hours.
- Able to occasionally drive/operate foot controls for 1–3 hours.
- Able to walk occasionally on level surfaces for 1–3 hours.
- Able to walk intermittently on uneven surfaces for less than 1 hour.
- Able to intermittently bend or climb for less than 1 hour.
- Able to occasionally twist, kneel, crouch, and crawl for 1–3 hours.
- Able to lift 50 pounds intermittently in less than 1 hour.
- Able to carry up to 50 pounds intermittently in less than 1 hour.
- Able to push up to 50 pounds intermittently in less than 1 hour.
- Able to pull up to 50 pounds intermittently in less than 1 hour.
- Maintains current and valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance coverage at all times.
