This is a limited-term position (up to 24 months). It may become a permanent, full-time position if the funding is secured.

Under the direction of the Director of Affordable Student Housing, College Finance and Facilities Planning Division, the Community College Specialist performs complex analytical and programmatic duties in support of the statewide Affordable Student Housing program. The position supports program implementation through project oversight, policy formulation, district technical assistance, and coordination with internal Chancellor’s Office units and state control agencies. The Community College Specialist monitors student housing projects under development, supports compliance with statutory and program requirements, assists with legislative and regulatory analysis, and supports development and maintenance of the Student Housing module within the Facilities Utilization Space Inventory Net (FUSION) project management tool.

Employee must reside in CA for a job appointment.

This position has a Hybrid work setting, including telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on the Chancellor’s Office’s evolving telework policy. The Chancellor’s Office supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to the headquarters office in Sacramento if an urgent need arises.

Working Conditions

Ability to use standard computer and/or office machines for an extended period of time.

Work in a climate-controlled, open office environment under artificial lighting. Exposure to computer screens and other basic office equipment. Periodic presentations will occasionally be required. Ability to effectively work in a hybrid/telework setting within the state of CA. Hybrid work setting provided. Willing and able to travel to colleges, work sites, conferences as needed.
