The Public Advocates Office is the independent consumer advocate within the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Its mandate is to obtain the lowest possible rates for utility services consistent with reliable and safe service levels and the state’s environmental goals. It represents residential and small business ratepayer interests in Commission proceedings and processes (e.g., workshops, rule makings, investigations, utility applications, hearings, advice letters, committee and stakeholder meetings, and other forums).
These proceedings set rates, rules, policies, and regulations that impact ratepayers.

The Electric Pricing and Customer Programs (EPCP) Branch within the Public Advocates Office is seeking a Public Utilities Regulatory Analyst III to join its Customer Programs team. Under the general direction of the Program and Project Supervisor, the successful candidate will independently conduct economic, financial, and policy research and analysis related to distributed energy resources (DERs), with an emphasis on renewable generation and demand response.
