The Secretary of State’s office is seeking to fill an Analyst II position. The Legal Affairs Office provides legal support to the Secretary of State’s office (SOS) relating to all functions of the agency, including elections, businesses, political campaigning, legislative advocacy, and historical treasures. The duties are varied and interesting.
Under the general direction of the Supervisor II, the Analyst II performs complex analytical work and provides high level consultative services in a variety of administrative functions.
Duties include:
coordinating responses to records requests, business filings, correspondence, accepting service of process, and assisting members of the public. Analysts will also provide technical assistance and related administrative assistance to agency staff in a variety of areas including but not limited to business programs.

- Ability to review and analyze programs and policies and make appropriate recommendations
- Ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations to specific situations
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with excellent follow-through and flexibility on tasks and assignments
- Ability to handle changing priorities, and work under pressure within time constraints
- Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office software and basic computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, etc.)
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with agency personnel or stakeholders and display excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge or experience with the California Public Records Act, litigation, and/or legislation
