This position will be responsible for general accounting functions including recording financial transactions, preparing reconciliations, and maintaining balance sheet schedules in accordance with GAAP.
Location:
This role is located in Midtown - Sacramento, CA (95811).
This role allows a hybrid schedule requiring 2-3 days per week on site.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Prepare accurate and timely journal entries during the monthly close process in accordance with GAAP, ensuring integrity of the general ledger.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure accuracy of cash balances.
- Conduct balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations, analyzing variances and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and support schedules for management reporting.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
- Provide documentation and analysis to support external financial and tax audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist with the preparation of corporate tax returns and maintain compliance with federal and state reporting requirements.
- Participate in the development of operating and capital budgets, supporting financial planning and forecasting efforts.
- Draft, maintain, and distribute finance policies and procedures to ensure consistency and adherence to internal controls.
- Compile, analyze, and report financial data for internal management and external reporting purposes.
- Support special projects, process improvements, and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned.
- Three to five years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit, government, or healthcare settings.
- Strong Excel skills, including data analysis and financial modeling.
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Proven experience in account reconciliations and strong analytical skills for reviewing financial data and identifying discrepancies.
- Familiarity with nonprofit, government, or healthcare accounting environments and related financial practices.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and account reconciliations.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills with the ability to review financial data, identify discrepancies, and support accurate financial reporting.
- Understanding of month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of supporting schedules and documentation.
