Under the general supervision of an Administrator I and the guidance of a technical lead, the incumbent’s primary responsibilities consist of performing technical examinations based on information received from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and California returns to issue Notice of Proposed Assessments (NPA), and resolving correspondence related to these examinations.
Qualifications- Ability to interpret, apply and/or explain provisions of Personal Income Tax (PIT) tax law and/or Business Entities (BE) Income Tax Law, regulations, and departmental procedures and policy
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience working with sensitive and confidential material
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent customer service experience in person and on the phone
- Excellent technical and analytical skills
- Ability to do extensive research regarding California Income Tax Law Regulations
- Ability to use a variety of techniques to make sound decisions based on the available information
- Working knowledge of FTB Systems including but not limited to Taxpayer Folder (TPF), Case Management (CM), Taxpayer Information (TI) System, and the Business Entities Tax System (BETS)
- Familiarity with basic California and Federal Income Tax Returns and schedules
- Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to adjust to changing priorities
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
