The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is searching for talented individuals to join our team as a Tax Technician III to work in the Customer Service Center (CSC). The CSC responds to over 654,000 calls, 17,000 e-mails, 34,000 chats per year, providing customers and taxpayers with information on more than 42 CDTFA tax and fee programs.
The Tax Technician (TT) III exercises a high degree of initiative, judgment, and independence while performing duties involving difficult and complex technical work. This includes, but is not limited to, responding to telephone inquiries from the CDTFA's toll-free line and providing information regarding current tax laws, account receivables, delinquencies, and various tax and fee programs administered by the CDTFA. The incumbent is responsible for processing returned mail, forms, and other types of correspondence.
The incumbent acts as team lead and trainer for TT level staff.
Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week. Schedules are subject to change.
Currently, per the California Budget Act of 2025, all California Department of Tax and Fee Administration salaries are subject to the provisions of the State of California’s Personal Leave Program.
