Personal Financial Counselor – Sacramento, CA (Magellan Federal)

Job Description:

This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. You will deliver a full range of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families.

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and families.
• Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
• Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
• Coordinate, publicize, and provide a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering life‑cycle topics.
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Effectively utilize virtual counseling and other electronic communication modes, subject to authorization.
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues.
• Participate in in‑services, training, quality‑improvement committees, and other contract activities as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree required; associate degree with 4 years’ experience or high school diploma with 6 years’ experience may be considered.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required.
• Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Must hold one of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary range: $53,125 – $84,995. Short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package are available, including health, life, voluntary, and other benefits.
