Budget Analyst II – Sacramento County
Work Location: Sacramento County, California
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Telework: Hybrid – in‑office and optional telework (subject to change)
The Analyst II works under a Supervisor to manage complex budgetary and fiscal planning for the Department of Developmental Services. Key duties include:
- Prepare, maintain, and analyze state‑operated facility budgets, capital outlay needs, and headquarters’ budget.
- Conduct research, develop financial reports, and provide recommendations to support program and agency objectives.
- Execute independent judgment on budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and contract matters.
- Collaborate with department headquarters staff, other agency personnel, and external partners.
- Adhere to California Government Code requirements for hybrid work arrangements and telework agreements (modifiable at any time).
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Three (3) years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or related agency budget work.
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and/or contract administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong communication and analytical skills; ability to work independently and with a team.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States;
California residency at time of appointment. - Willingness to attend required examinations/assessments for list or LEAP eligibility (link provided in posting).
- Experience with state‑operated developmental centers and community facility budgeting.
- Advanced proficiency with financial software and data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and commitment to program mission.

Work ConditionsWork is performed in an open‑spaced partitioned office environment with required use of a computer and telephone. Incumbent may be requested to report to the office or designated location on short notice. Telework agreements can be modified or cancelled at any time pursuant to California Government Code.
