Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join the team of this Sacramento manufacturer. This is a critical role that will support the Controller in managing all aspects of financial operations, including month-end close, reporting, account reconciliation and analysis and compliance. Initially, the position will contribute to an ERP implementation and process improvements, but the long-term focus is on becoming a key strategic partner to the Controller, helping drive accuracy, efficiency, and financial insight across the business.
- Lead and execute month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial statements, variances, and trends to support decision-making.
- Maintain and improve internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee AP/AR processes and coordinate with shared services for alignment.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
- Support ERP implementation activities (data validation, UAT, process documentation) and post-go-live optimization.
- Coordinate with corporate finance during audits and reviews to ensure compliance and timely resolution of issues.
- Coordinate with the sales tax department to ensure timely sales tax returns and filings.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Controller and provide mentorship to staff as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- A selfless team player with a strong work ethic, natural curiosity and passion about finance; willing to extend themselves outside their comfort zone in helping to continue to build a successful business unit.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting is appropriate with the candidate’s experience and desire to grow their accounting and financial acumen.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Experience with mid-level ERP systems; prior involvement in implementation is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience and familiarity with financial consolidation packages.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
- Salary Range for Sacramento, CA based Applicants: $85,000-$106,000 annual salary, potential for bonus and full benefits
