Pay Range: $3,558.00 – $4,457.00 per hour for Classification A; $4,017.00 – $5,032.00 per hour for Classification
B.
Location: Sacramento County, Hybrid telework (partial remote).
Job Type: Permanent Intermittent – 1,500 hours per availability cycle.
ResponsibilitiesThis position supports day‑to‑day enforcement operations for the Franchise Tax Board and the California Tax Education Council (CTEC).
- Interface regularly with tax professionals and CTEC members via in‑person meetings, phone calls, and email.
- Maintain and enhance cooperation and communication with CTEC, ensuring compliance with the Tax Preparer Act, §§ 22250‑22259.
- Identify unregistered tax preparers and provide education on preparer requirements.
- Assist with the MyFTB tax professional verification process, verifying credentials and online account relationships.
- Travel within California as needed, typically within a 1‑2‑week period.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications and demonstrate desirable skills listed below:
- Knowledge of Personal Income Tax (PIT) laws, policies, and procedures.
- Familiarity with FTB systems:
Integrated Non‑Filer Compliance (INC), Taxpayer Information (TI), Taxpayer Folder (TPF), Case Management (CM), Accounts Receivable Collection System (ARCS), Lexis‑Nexis, DMV, and related applications. - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, pivot tables).
- Experience working in a contact center or business area with an Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) line.
- Strong organizational, time‑management, flexible decision‑making, and research skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
- Analytical skills: ability to analyze information and derive well‑documented conclusions.
- Capacity to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and shift priorities to meet deadlines.
- Travel may be required January–June throughout California.
