Under the general direction of the Financial Management Bureau’s Assistant Bureau Director, the Fiscal Officer and Section Manager of the Franchise Tax Board’s Accounting Section oversees that all financial expectations placed upon the section are met. The incumbent manages functions related to accounting standards and practices; compliance with all relevant state and local laws, regulations, and policies; revenue and expenditure tracking;
and financial reporting. The incumbent participates in governance bodies, steering committees, enterprise teams, external work groups, and partners with stakeholders to understand the fiscal environment, stakeholder needs and concerns, and potential impacts to the department, programs, and policies.
Separation of Duties:
The duties of this position include responsibilities covered by the State Administrative Manual (SAM) Section 7280. To ensure proper separation of duties, you may not be eligible for this position if a family member (domestic partners, children, husband, wife, brother, sister, or individuals living in the same household) works in the Accounting Section.

Qualifications- Knowledge and experience in California State Fund Accounting
- Knowledge and experience with the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal)
- Strong leadership and staff development skills to inspire, motivate, mentor and build productive teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate sensitive and controversial issues
- Ability to plan, organize and direct staff in a highly sensitive program
- Ability to work successfully under the pressure of tight deadlines and changing priorities
- Ability to problem solve with other business areas as well as technology
- Experience working with control agencies to meet departmental and program objectives
- Involvement in a diversity of activities, program areas, and/or positions that have provided you with a greater understanding and appreciation for the broader perspective of the department/enterprise
- Demonstrated performance encouraging positive relationships, creating high job satisfaction, encouraging success, showing understanding, and being trusting and supportive
