Item Processing Representative

General Description

Support the organization’s vision by accurately handling financial transactions in the Item Processing department, ensuring seamless operation of essential processes.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and process a variety of financial transactions (checks, deposits, bill pay) via mail, mobile, or ATM channels.
  • Utilize item processing systems to complete transactions accurately and timely.
  • Review transactions to identify and correct errors or discrepancies.
  • Enter data with high accuracy to maintain financial records integrity.
  • Maintain retention and storage of ATM and Remittance work.
  • Review deposit reporting in alignment with Regulation CC for ATM and Mobile deposits.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from members, branches, and departments.
  • Validate information to minimize errors in transaction processing.
  • Deliver exemplary service to members, branches, and department staff with efficiency and courtesy.
  • Organize, prioritize, and multitask while being detail oriented.
  • Collaborate with fraud prevention to enhance security protocols and reduce risks.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of state and federal compliance laws (bank secrecy, anti‑money laundering).
  • Provide additional support throughout the department as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year experience in cash management or financial industry.
  • 1+ year customer‑service experience.
  • Prior experience in item processing or related financial roles preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial transactions.
  • High awareness of potential fraudulent checks.
  • Excellent communication skills for internal business partners.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaborative skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and software experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
  • Correct vision within the normal range.
  • Hearing within normal range.
  • Occasional movement throughout the department daily to interact with staff.
