The mission of the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) is to serve, protect, and support Californians experiencing need in ways that empower wellbeing and disrupt systemic inequities. CDSS is dedicated to inclusive, diverse, and equitable services where all people can thrive. The Office of Audit Services (OAS) supports CDSS management with independent assessments of internal and external controls, audit recommendations, and implementation of improvements to risk management and governance processes.
Job Description and Responsibilities- Conduct independent audits, tasks, or special assignments in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS, also known as the Yellow Book).
- Prepare and plan for audits, research and gather data, request records, perform tests, and develop audit programs.
- Prepare and issue audit reports and recommendations for external agencies.
- Provide oral and written communication to all levels of management, conduct audit fieldwork, and make on-site visits to agencies to ensure program integrity and regulatory compliance.

Candidates residing outside California may be interviewed if proof of residency is provided before appointment.
