The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting the Project Manager in providing planning, design, and construction administrative and management support on multiple infrastructure, medical/mental health, energy and sustainability, special repair, and both minor and major capital outlay correctional projects. This position is full‑time and is based in Sacramento, CA.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Provide project management assistance and support to a variety of projects through the various phases of the project, working to ensure on-schedule completions within or below budgets in accordance with contractual obligations and adherence to design standards and criteria. Scope of duties include: work on a variety of correctional projects simultaneously that employ various delivery methods through their respective project phases with a diverse and varied project team.
- Coordinate with project team members across several stakeholder groups to facilitate, process, and manage project documentation (submittals, RFIs, PCOs, construction bulletins, meeting minutes, etc.)
- Assist with development, coordination, and tracking of other project deliverables such as monthly reports, waivers, schedule reviews, punch list, authority having jurisdiction reviews and approvals, inspection requests and deficiency notices, cost control and budgeting, equipment coordination, studies and reports, and other project needs.
- Assist with setting up design review processes, tracking comments, and reviewing deliverables for conformance with project criteria and standards.
- Assist with development of Proceed to Bid and Proceed to Construction packages for internal and external review and distribution and Bid & Award process.
- Monitor and report to Project Manager the progress of all project activity within the project, including significant milestones, and any conditions that would affect project cost or schedule.
- Assist project closeout process as required.
- Conduct periodic site visits to verify project progress.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or technical equivalent is required.
- Knowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices.
- Understanding of contracts, documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Document Management Systems and Adobe Acrobat Professional, Bluebeam, Procore, and other project management software systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and understanding of industry practices and regulations.
- May assume other duties as required/needed.
