Electrical Estimator – EIG Electrical Systems

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator with at least 5 years of experience on commercial construction projects, based in the Sacramento, CA location.

Job Description

Evergreen Innovation Group, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is seeking an Electrical Estimator to work primarily on negotiated electrical commercial projects within our core markets: healthcare, higher education, advanced technology, life sciences, and commercial. The role involves working closely with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors to help deliver on our mission.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates understanding and enthusiastic agreement with the vision and mission of EIG.
  • Handles the project from first estimate all the way through project handoff.
  • Looks beyond available information, asks the right questions, and provides a complete project cost evaluation.
  • Acts as a collaborative and passionate advocate for our customers, empowering and informing them throughout the project.
  • Provides aggressive innovative solutions to complex cost, lead‑time, trade partner, and material issues.
  • Makes reliable cost predictions and estimates across all scopes of work.
  • Prepares detailed conceptual cost estimates and studies from schematic and feasibility level documentation.
  • Prepares detailed estimates as designs evolve, developing variance summaries between estimates and value engineering studies.
  • Assembles complete presentation‑ready estimate packages that clearly communicate project cost.
  • Collaborates with the project team to establish necessary staffing and project requirements.
  • Shows knowledge and understanding of unit costs and cost‑affecting factors.
  • Prepares detailed instructions to bidders, trade‑specific clarifications, and comprehensive bid packages.
  • Conducts the bidding process: soliciting bids, communicating with bidders, evaluating subcontractor proposals, and using bid tally sheets.
  • Recommends subcontractor awards to the customer/owner and negotiates and finalizes subcontracts with trade partners.
  • Participates and often leads the preparation and presentation of cost and budget information to the customer/owner.
  • Participates in request‑for‑proposal responses and formal presentations for projects.
  • Engages and develops business with new and existing customers.
  • Actively participates in value‑engineering sessions with the project and design teams.
Required

  • Flexible, detail‑oriented team player who can manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Creative and innovative problem‑solving on a project‑by‑project basis.
  • Ability to identify, adapt to, and resolve complex issues.
  • Effective participation in both internal and external team environments.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, estimating software (Win Est, Timberline, or similar), take‑off software (Accubid Livecount or similar), BIM tools (Revit, Assemble, etc.), project management software (CMiC or similar), or scheduling software (Primavera or similar).
Education and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience as an Electrical Commercial Construction estimator, preferably within DPR core markets.
  • Bachelor’s degree a plus, but not required.
  • Field experience a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with Design/Build and Design/Assist projects a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Travel to and from the office as well as assigned job site(s).
