We’re looking for a Telecommunications BIM Designer who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business and is interested in working side‑by‑side with other team members at our client’s site. This geographically flexible, hybrid position in the U.S. gives you the opportunity to design and document advanced facility projects for the booming semiconductor manufacturing industry and other state‑of‑the‑art research facilities.
As a BIM Designer, you will be engaged in the design documentation, responsible for setting up and managing Revit BIM models in coordination with other discipline leads. Working under the direction of telecom discipline leads, you will showcase your Revit expertise while staying aligned with Jacobs and client BIM standards. Using Revit, Navisworks and AutoCAD, you will create and manage fully coordinated 3‑D models across all design disciplines (C,S,A,M,E,P,T,I,L) and produce 2‑D construction drawings.
You will collaborate with architects, engineers and senior telecom designers to translate design intent into constructive deliverables, including clash‑free 3‑D models.
- High school graduate or equivalent
- At least 3 years of BIM design experience
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in telecommunications systems design and construction
- Understanding of how codes and standards influence design decisions
- Understanding of design and construction specifications and their function
- Basic knowledge of wiring/cabling connections in relation to a circuit or link between devices and equipment
- Experience following client design and modeling standards
- Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar markup software
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to estimate hours required for design and modeling effort based on mark‑ups and verbal direction
- Willingness to learn new things
- At least 3 years of Revit and/or AutoCAD design experience
- Understanding of semiconductor or data‑center environments
- Knowledge and design experience with paging, intercom and audio‑visual systems
- Knowledge and design experience with life‑safety and security systems, fire alarms, access control, CCTV (Closed Circuit Television)
- Knowledge of control systems, network components and topology
