This role involves designing and overseeing telecommunications systems for advanced manufacturing and research facilities, coordinating with architects and engineers, and ensuring compliance with NEC, TIA, and client specifications.

Role OverviewYou will lead telecommunications design projects as a design lead, producing complex packages in coordination with architects and other discipline engineers. Using AutoCAD and Revit MEP, you will create fully coordinated 3D models, construction specifications, and detailed 2‑D sheets. Your responsibilities include designing Outside Plant, inter‑ and intra‑building backbone distribution systems, communication room layouts, rack elevations, wired & wireless device plans, and cable schedules, all in accordance with NEC, TIA and relevant standards.
Responsibilities- Lead telecommunications design projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Produce detailed design packages, including 3‑D BIM, construction specifications, and 2‑D drawings.
- Design OSP, backbone distribution systems, communication room layouts, rack elevations, wired & wireless device plans, and cable schedules.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, applicable TIA and client/ Jacobs specifications.
- Edit design and construction specifications.
- Assist with start‑up, commissioning, estimation, and scheduling for large multi‑building projects.
- Two‑year technical degree or four‑year non‑technical degree.
- At least 6 years of experience in telecommunications design and construction.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) for telecommunications design.
- Knowledge of TIA standards.
- Experience leading telecommunications design teams.
- Experience editing design and construction specifications.
- Experience with start‑up and commissioning of telecommunications systems.
- Experience estimating and scheduling design efforts for large multi‑building projects.
- Strong structured cabling design background.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Navisworks.
- Credentials: BICSI, RCDD, or ability to obtain in 6 months.
- At least 4 years of telecommunications design experience in semiconductor or data center industries.
- Project management experience.
- Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks.
- Experience with emergency responder radio and DAS.
- Experience with telecommunications infrastructure for life‑safety and security systems (fire alarm, access control, CCTV, etc.).
- Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for control systems.
- Experience providing assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others.
- Other certifications such as BICSI OSP or BICSI RTPM.
