Department InformationEnergy Division – Distribution Planning Branch – Grid Planning, Energy Storage and Non-Wires Alternatives. The CPUC's Grid Planning, Energy Storage, and Non-Wires Alternatives team works to develop strategies for transforming and modernizing the distribution grid. These efforts aim to achieve the state’s greenhouse gas reduction targets while maintaining safe, reliable service and increasing the role of distributed energy resources (DERs) to benefit ratepayers.
This team provides technical expertise and oversight of policies and programs related to distribution resource planning, energy storage, smart grid, and grid modernization.
