Position: Heart and Vascular Center Nurse Educator (CLIN NURSE EDUC 4)

Overview

Job Summary The Clinical Nurse Educator manages, designs, plans, and coordinates clinical education programs for the Heart & Vascular Center (HVC) clinical staff. The Clinical Nurse Educator participates in setting objectives for assigned programs in alignment with organizational strategic plans and identified program opportunities. This includes developing short- and long-term education strategies in collaboration with Center for Professional Practice of Nursing (CPPN) leadership and senior management, including identifying training needs, competency requirements, and initiatives to improve service delivery.

The Clinical Nurse Educator provides leadership in assigned programs through identifying learning outcomes, leading innovative educational design, coordinating adjunct faculty as appropriate, and guiding administrative staff to ensure record keeping meets stakeholder needs, including accrediting bodies as applicable. The role monitors and ensures regulatory compliance for assigned programs, including policy adherence, training and leadership of adjunct faculty, policy development, and maintenance of records.

It also assumes fiscal responsibility through participation in budget preparation for assigned programs/courses and identification of needed resources (physical resources, equipment, space, technology) and personnel resources, including faculty and technical support.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Master’s degree
  • Minimum five years of recent RN experience
  • Minimum three years of RN experience in ICU / Critical Care
  • Experience teaching in an academic healthcare environment and recent clinical nursing experience
  • Progressive leadership experience
  • Progressive experience in professional staff development in Acute care/Clinical Care/Procedural care
  • Demonstrated experience in nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to plan and implement adult learning activities using various modalities
  • Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Leadership: ability to collaborate effectively with staff at all levels
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Project management skills
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to implement education programs
  • Proficiency in educational technology usage
  • Ability to adapt to change professionally
  • Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and professional development
  • Knowledge of performance improvement and evidence-based practice
  • Knowledge of planning, implementing, and evaluating the educational process, including adult learning theories
Preferred Qualifications
  • Nursing Professional Development Certification
  • Master’s degree in Nursing Education or related field
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards for primary programs (BRN, ANCC, AHA, PTAP)
