POSITION TITLE: Lecturer Pool - Design
POSITION DETAILSThe Department of Design at California State University, Sacramento offers B.A. in Design Studies, B.F.A. in Graphic Design, B.F.A. in Interior Architecture, and B.F.A. in Photography. The Lecturer Pool will cover Design Studies, Graphic Design, Interior Architecture, and Photography.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Teach undergraduate introductory design history, studio, and critical thinking courses.
- Teach Graphic Design basic 2‑D composition, symbol development, and color theory.
- Teach Interior Architecture lecture and studio‑based classes (design studio, computer graphics studio, architectural history, professional career preparation, building systems).
- Teach Photography digital/analog photography classes.
- Prepare lessons, grade, and hold office hours.
- Perform other departmental duties as assigned.
Part‑time lecturer appointments are conditional and based on enrollment and budget. Initial appointments are typically one semester (occasionally one academic year) and may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Course assignments are made by the Department Chair under the College Dean's direction.
RANK AND SALARYInitial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background.
- Lecturer A: $5,507–$6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221–$13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825–$14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593–$15,211
Salary is prorated based on weighted teaching units. A semester is six payments.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree plus at least five years of teaching or relevant professional experience in Architecture, Design Studies, Graphic Design, or Photography.
- Terminal degree in the relevant field.
- Prior college‑level teaching experience.
