This posting is for a trainee-level position serving the Disability Access Center. The trainee-level appointment is limited to a 6-month duration.

Position Summary

Under the lead work direction of the SSP III, the Assistant Access Coordinator reviews academic accommodation and auxiliary service requests; assists with providing guidance with disability management; serves as a supportive resource for faculty and staff; and refers students to appropriate technological resources and services. Assists with developing a holistic academic intervention success plan for students with various disabilities, which can include assessment for alternative communication methods, identifying funding sources for communication and/or mobility needs, collaboration with both on-campus resources and off-campus agencies.

Works closely with students and faculty to support efficient and effective resolutions for required academic accommodations that do not involve fundamental alterations of courses, or serious imposition on other students, instructors, or the University as a whole. The Assistant Access Coordinator works in an interdisciplinary team to support the coordination of efficient and effective academic modification services to students with disabilities.

Involves assisting with implementing programs, processes, and activities for students with disabilities in accordance with federal and state law, to ensure their equal access to the academic and campus environment. Decisions within the DAC impact university compliance and liability under federal and state disability law and regulations.

Employment Details
  • FLSA:
    Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,150 monthly
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,150 – $5,076 monthly
  • Recruitment Type:
    Temporary (6-month limited duration)
  • Time Base:
    Full-Time
  • Pay Plan: 12 months
  • Work Hours:

    8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday.
Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of methods and problems of organization and program management; research and interviewing techniques; principles of individual and group behavior;
  • Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the organization, procedures and activities of the specific campus.
  • Fundamental principles, practices and major trends in the Student Services field.
  • Interpret and apply program rules and regulations; gather and analyze data; reason logically; draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations;
  • Present clear and concise information orally and in written reports; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations and other private and public agencies.

Experience: None required.

Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university.

  • Ability to work with a diverse student population in a fast paced and diverse work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to apply rules, regulations and procedures
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, verbal and written skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as video technology such as Zoom and/or Teams
  • Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community
