Position Description
The University of the Pacific, School of Health Sciences is seeking a master’s or doctoral prepared registered nurse to join the ELMSN program and fill a non‑tenure track position at the Assistant, Associate, or Clinical Professor rank, depending on qualifications and academic experience.
- Teach ELMSN program content in both didactic and clinical settings.
- Advising students and participating in simulation activities.
- Curriculum development and interprofessional education.
- Oversee clinical adjuncts and place students in clinical agencies.
- Manage required clinical documentation through the tracking system.
- Assist with student and part‑time faculty orientation.
- Prepare accreditation activities.
- Attend program, curriculum, and campus committee meetings.
- Contact clinical agencies, orient and evaluate part‑time faculty, and interview prospective students.
Effective teaching, interprofessional collaboration, research, creative activity, and service to the university are required for retention and promotion. This appointment includes a three‑year contract and support for research, professional development, and scholarly activities.

Minimum Qualifications- MSN in Nursing or a related field.
- A current, active, and unencumbered California RN License.
- At least two (2) years of nursing work experience in a content specialty area within the last five (5) years.
- Eligible for approval as a BRN approved faculty by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
- A terminal degree in Nursing (PhD or DNP, or EdD) with a master’s degree in nursing or related field. ABD candidates are encouraged to apply if they will finish their dissertation within two (2) years of appointment.
- At least two (2) years of instructional experience teaching in an academic setting.
- Knowledge and skills related to teaching adults/older adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development, evaluations, or willingness to acquire these skills within the first year of teaching.
- BRN approval as a content expert.
- Experience using Canvas or other Learning Management System.
- Expertise in simulation or other innovative teaching modalities.
- Health qualifications to teach students in the clinical setting.
- Commitment to teaching students from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Experience advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
