The Master of Social Work (MSW) Program at the University of the Pacific, School of Health Sciences, invites applicants to apply for a full‑time assistant/associate/clinical professor position. The program offers a specialized practice concentration in health care and social work, with a competency‑based curriculum and inter‑professional simulation lab training. The position resides in a hybrid 16‑month accelerated sequence for students with any bachelor’s degree (except social work) and a 12‑month advanced standing option for bachelor’s graduates in social work.
The MSW Field Coordinator faculty is responsible for providing all aspects of didactic and clinical education and participating in cross‑teaching activities within the School of Health Sciences, emphasizing field education. Familiarity with CSWE accreditation standards is preferred. Scholarship activities are valued and incorporated into all faculty roles.
Essential Functions- Assist and manage all assigned aspects of field education programming for the MSW program.
- Participate in the CSWE accreditation process in conjunction with leadership for the field education components.
- Lead curriculum development, including effective linkages between field education and the didactic curriculum.
- Attend department, college, and university meetings and committees.
- Perform academic duties: advising, career mentoring, classroom teaching, and team‑teaching assignments.
- Recruit, develop, and approve internship sites locally and across California for hybrid/online tracks.
- Collaborate with agencies to build partnerships, respond to changing needs, and resolve concerns under the leadership of the Field Director.
- Assign faculty and students to field classes.
- Coach and mentor field education faculty and students, organizing professional mentoring activities.
- Maintain program and student data in internship tracking software.
- Provide advising support for students with internship issues.
- Respond to student and/or agency emergencies promptly.
- Teach field seminars and courses in the MSW Program.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Engage in collaborative projects with community organizations and public agencies within the MSW program and with other health sciences or university programs.
- Participate in faculty development, student‑faculty functions, and graduation and convocation ceremonies.
Workload varies by trimester and is assigned by the Program Director in consultation with the Director of Field Education. Emphasis is placed on balancing teaching, scholarship, and service throughout the year. Scheduling is adjusted based on faculty and program needs.
Promotion, Tenure & Annual EvaluationsThis is a non‑tenure track position. The initial academic rank will be determined by the promotion and tenure committee based on qualifications and experience. Faculty maintain a dossier documenting activities and accomplishments, used for promotion review and annual evaluations by the MSW Program Director and the Dean of the School of Health Sciences. Evaluations may inform merit salary increases.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE‑accredited program.
- Minimum two (2) years post‑graduate employment experience.
- At least one (1) year of experience in a direct practice social work setting.
- Academic experience in Bachelor or Master of Social Work education.
- Clinical supervision experience with MSW students and graduates.
- Emphasis on social work practice in teaching and professional work.
- Strong knowledge and experience working with diverse students and client populations.
- Experience with hybrid and online pedagogy.
