Chamberlain College of Nursing seeks Part-Time Clinical Instructors interested in teaching students in our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

We are currently accepting applications for candidates interested in teaching in the following specialty:

Position: Mental Health Nursing Clinical Instructor

Location: Sacramento (South) or Woodland

Shifts: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM and 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM

Course Overview - Mental Health Nursing:

This course emphasizes the dynamics of an individual's ability to function within society. Key content areas include anxiety, self-concept, thought disorders, mood alterations, addictive behaviors, organic brain dysfunction, and issues related to abuse and violence. The course also integrates health promotion and wellness topics such as stress management and personal growth. Instruction includes therapeutic communication techniques, individual and group therapy practices, and the use of community mental health resources.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required to teach at certain clinical partner sites.

In this role, the clinical instructor:

  • Implements the college's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the college, community, health system, and profession.
  • Assumes responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching assignments.
  • Plans clinical experiences and provides direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering care to individuals or groups.
  • Evaluates and provides documented feedback to students based on course objectives.
  • Is available for remediation of students as needed.
  • Orients and maintains current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations with the assistance of clinical personnel.
  • Develops and posts written clinical assignments suited to students' knowledge, skills, and learning needs.
  • Grades homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work promptly.
  • May teach didactic course content under supervision.
  • Keeps the course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues.
  • Reports to the dean or assistant dean; a course coordinator will also provide oversight.

Qualifications:

  • A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
  • An unencumbered professional nursing license.
  • At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required at some clinical sites.
  • Teaching or precepting experience is preferred but not required.
  • A genuine passion for nursing education and lifelong learning.
  • Exceptional subject matter expertise with excellent communication skills.
  • Eagerness to serve students and colleagues with passion, respect, and care.
  • A sense of responsibility and purpose, with a desire to enrich colleagues, students, and the broader community.

Additional Information:

The expected salary range for this position is between $65 and $97.50 per hour. Actual pay will depend on experience, location, licensure, certifications, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibilities.
