The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. As an employee of USC, you will be a part of a world-class research university and a member of the "Trojan Family," which is comprised of the faculty, students and staff that make the university what it is.
The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Surgery in the Division of Ophthalmology, are actively seeking a qualified candidate for the position of USC Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology (Fellow).
The Vision Center at Children's Hospital Los Angeles has established a one-year AUPO FCC compliant fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus in association with the University of Southern California Eye Institute and Keck School of Medicine. An optional second year is offered. The fellowship is designed to provide an in-depth experience in the care and management of all aspects of pediatric ophthalmology including, but not limited to, strabismus, anterior segment disease, retinopathy of prematurity, neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastics, and ocular oncology.
The program is also designed to provide a broad research experience in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
The fellowship is a full-time commitment. Upon completion of the program, fellows will be adequately prepared for an academic career in pediatric ophthalmology. A stipend is provided. The fellow divides their time between the Los Angeles General Medical Center, USC Medical Campus, and Children's Hospital Los Angeles, with the majority of time spent at Children's Hospital. Fellowship applicants must have completed an accredited residency in ophthalmology, and they must be Board eligible in ophthalmology.
At this time, we are not sponsoring applicants who require a visa. A California medical license is required in order to begin the fellowship, and it is possible to apply for a California medical license online. Most Canadian applicants are eligible for a California medical license.
The annual base salary range for this position is $92,500-$96,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
