Base pay range$78,000.00/yr - $/yr
Mark Thomas is hiring an experienced licensed Project Landscape Architect. We are specifically seeking a seasoned Landscape Architect with proven experience in capital improvement and public works projects. This is an excellent full‑time opportunity for a motivated and experienced Landscape Architecture professional interested in working on a diverse list of projects while making their mark in our Landscape Architecture and Urban Design (LAUD) Division.
Our Landscape Architects primarily focus on complete streets, urban design, streetscape, placemaking, green streets, highway corridor design, architectural enhancements to structures and bridges, active transportation & trail design. Some of our other project opportunities also include public parks, athletic field designs, and community development projects.
- Acts in responsible charge, as project lead, of deliverables for components of projects or projects in their entirety as directed by the Project Manager or Division Manager. Stamps and signs bid documents.
- Ensures that designer staff, technicians & interns follow Company standards and maintains a high level of quality.
- Applies working knowledge and understanding in the day‑to‑day development of design, construction plans and technical specifications in accordance with applicable agency and industry standards.
- Provides technical and process support and oversight to landscape designers and production staff.
- Coordinates and supports bidding and construction activities as necessary.
- Reviews project plans, cost estimates, quantities, reports and exhibits for completeness & accuracy.
- Engages with proposal teams to yield cost effective project wins.
- Participates in project scheduling and resource management.
- Supervises and mentors more junior staff & encourage professional development.
- Participates in leading internal technical training to ensure staff complies with guidelines, standards, project requirements, and current best practices.
- Gains knowledge of scope, budgets, agreements, and financial reporting systems.
- Participates in interviews and selection of LAUD candidates.
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree from an accredited landscape architecture program.
- 8+ years relevant experience with progressive, increased responsibilities.
- 3+ years as a licensed landscape architect in the United States.
- Landscape Architecture license in the State of California is required.
- Candidates with Public Works and Public Agency project experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to delegate and lead design groups.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for the development of construction documents.
- Knowledge and experience with Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Earth.
- Knowledge of landscape and site construction practices.
- Demonstrated oral & written communication skills.
- Work & collaborate in a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing a wide range of milestone deliverables including but not limited to site analysis plans, conceptual designs, and full sets of landscape and site construction plans, details, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Demonstrated success in leading design teams and supervising direct reports.
- General knowledge and understanding of GIS software preferred.
