Provide construction management, administrative, and technical support for a project team so it can successfully execute program and construction management assignments for one or more of the following client types: K-12 public schools, community colleges, independent and charter schools, arenas, stadiums, or community recreation. Deliverables for pre-development and implementation/construction assignments include schedule development, cost estimating, subcontract coordination, construction monitoring, KPI performance tracking and analysis, constructability reviews, budget reconciliation, project documentation, public approvals and permitting, schedule compliance, and commissioning activities.

This position reports to a Project Executive or Senior Project Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Responsibilities
  • Supports Project Manager or Senior Project Manager with serving as the Client’s “trusted advisor” focused on achievement of project goals for schedule, budget, and quality, and providing critical thinking and analyses to ensure quality client advice. Takes full-management responsibility for smaller- to medium-scaled implementation assignments of over $10MM in total project costs.
  • Manage all aspects of construction including, but not limited to, investigation of construction needs, conducting regular AOC meetings, delegating construction related tasks to the team members according to their professional roles and responsibilities, coordination with design professionals, overseeing contractor selection and the bidding process, management of general/subcontractors throughout the construction process, and management of multiple construction schedules and budgets.
  • Develops client deliverables, including RFI’s, submittals, change orders, written reports, presentations, budgets, schedules, and other construction documents that are tailored to meet client’s desired outcomes and scope requirements.
  • Contract administration to ensure adherence to insurance, bonds, and compliance requirements
  • Coordinates and directs the day-to-day activities of assigned project staff, both internal (company’s staff) and external (JV partners, subconsultants, architects, and builders) to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Provides input on annual performance reviews of project staff under APM’s direction.
  • Performs compliance, quality control, and quality assurance activities to ensure that deliverables are error-free and delivered on time. Monitors compliance to permit construction drawings and interacting daily with the client, the project construction staff, and inspectors.
  • Participates in company’s training and development opportunities and actively cultivates a knowledge base in a range of practices and methodologies in relevant industry markets (Venues+Municipal and/or K-12).
  • Participates in business development activities to include article writing, conference attendance, and prospective client tracking or follow up.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    The project engineer may supervise and direct a project analyst and/or project intern.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Requirements
    • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, real estate development, or related field.
    • Three to five years’ experience in a project engineer, construction management, or similar position
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
