Staff Accountant

About the Role A mission-driven nonprofit in Sacramento is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join its Finance team. This position is responsible for a range of accounting duties, including overseeing monthly and year-end closes, maintaining internal controls, supporting audit processes, and supervising junior accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and year-end close processes
• Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Support financial audits and ensure compliance with GAAP
• Analyze financial data and perform necessary adjustments
• Assist with payroll and internal reporting as needed
• Supervise Accounting Clerks and support team operations
• Maintain and improve accounting systems, policies, and procedures
• Collaborate with Finance team on projects and reporting task

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Nonprofit experience preferred Advanced proficiency in Quick Books, Excel, Word, and Outlook
