We are recruiting for an experienced and detail‑oriented Senior Accountant for a temporary assignment with our Sacramento based client, a respected statewide organization. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and can step in to provide immediate support to a busy finance team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting daily accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and ensuring accuracy and compliance across all financial activities.
This hands‑on role requires strong technical expertise, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism and precision.
- 100% Onsite
- 40 hours a week (no part time)
- Pay range: $40-$50/hour DOE
- Perform month‑end and year‑end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Support general ledger maintenance, account analysis, and variance review.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for internal stakeholders.
- Review and process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll‑related transactions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and organizational policies, maintaining strong internal controls.
- Prepare schedules, documentation, and support materials for audits and external reporting.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
- Provide additional accounting support and special project assistance as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit, association, or multi‑entity environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger operations.
- Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt quickly and manage workload in a fast‑paced environment.
