Overview
We are seeking a skilled Bookkeeper or Staff Accountant to support multiple small business clients with full-cycle accounting services in a CPA firm environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works well in a deadline-driven setting, and takes pride in delivering accurate, timely financial information to a diverse client base.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Quick Books and a strong understanding of small business accounting functions, with exposure to additional accounting software considered a plus.
This position is based in our Roseville or Rancho Cordova office and offers opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative team.
Location & CompensationLocation: Roseville or Rancho Cordova, CA
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 annually (dependent on degree and experience)

Industry: Public Accounting / CPA Firm
- Perform full-cycle accounting for multiple small business clients across various industries
- Manage daily, weekly, and monthly bookkeeping activities, including:
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- General ledger maintenance
- Review and analyze financial transactions for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Identify discrepancies and propose correcting journal entries
- Maintain organized and well-documented client work papers
- Support CPA team with items needed for:
- Business tax returns
- Payroll and sales tax filings
- Audit and review engagements (as applicable)
- Ensure client records are maintained in compliance with accounting standards and firm procedures
- Serve as a point of contact for bookkeeping-related client inquiries
- Gather missing documentation and provide clear explanations of financial results
- Build trusted relationships through responsiveness and professionalism
- 2-5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a CPA firm or multi-client environment
- Proficiency in Quick Books (Online and/or Desktop required)
- Strong understanding of:
- GAAP fundamentals
- Reconciliations and journal entries
- Financial statement preparation
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience with additional accounting software (e.g., Xero, Net Suite, Sage, or similar)
- Payroll and sales tax experience
- Prior public accounting or outsourced accounting firm experience
- Collaborative CPA firm environment with exposure to a wide variety of clients
- Stable daytime schedule and professional office setting
