Position: BOOKKEEPER - CLIENT ACCOUNTING

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Bookkeeper or Staff Accountant to support multiple small business clients with full-cycle accounting services in a CPA firm environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works well in a deadline-driven setting, and takes pride in delivering accurate, timely financial information to a diverse client base.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Quick Books and a strong understanding of small business accounting functions, with exposure to additional accounting software considered a plus.

This position is based in our Roseville or Rancho Cordova office and offers opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative team.

Location & Compensation

Location: Roseville or Rancho Cordova, CA
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 annually (dependent on degree and experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform full-cycle accounting for multiple small business clients across various industries
  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly bookkeeping activities, including:
    • Accounts payable and receivable
    • Bank and credit card reconciliations
    • General ledger maintenance
  • Review and analyze financial transactions for accuracy and completeness
Financial Reporting & Close
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Identify discrepancies and propose correcting journal entries
  • Maintain organized and well-documented client work papers
Tax & CPA Firm Support
  • Support CPA team with items needed for:
    • Business tax returns
    • Payroll and sales tax filings
    • Audit and review engagements (as applicable)
  • Ensure client records are maintained in compliance with accounting standards and firm procedures
Client Communication
  • Serve as a point of contact for bookkeeping-related client inquiries
  • Gather missing documentation and provide clear explanations of financial results
  • Build trusted relationships through responsiveness and professionalism
Required Qualifications
  • 2-5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a CPA firm or multi-client environment
  • Proficiency in Quick Books (Online and/or Desktop required)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • GAAP fundamentals
    • Reconciliations and journal entries
    • Financial statement preparation
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience with additional accounting software (e.g., Xero, Net Suite, Sage, or similar)
  • Payroll and sales tax experience
  • Prior public accounting or outsourced accounting firm experience
