Payroll Specialist (Union & Prevailing Wage)

About the Role

Ledgent Finance & Accounting is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist with strong union and prevailing wage experience. This position requires deep attention to detail, excellent compliance knowledge, and the ability to manage full-cycle payroll in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle payroll for weekly and/or bi-weekly employee groups
• Manage union payroll, including reporting, dues calculations, and compliance
• Prepare and submit prevailing wage reports (DIR, certified payroll, etc.)
• Review timesheets for accuracy, job classifications, and work codes
• Maintain payroll records and resolve discrepancies promptly
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Process garnishments, benefits deductions, and payroll adjustments
• Collaborate with HR, accounting, and project teams
• Provide payroll reporting for audits and management requests

Qualifications

• 2+ years of payroll experience; union and prevailing wage experience required
• Strong understanding of payroll laws and compliance requirements
• Experience with certified payroll reporting platforms (e.g., LCPtracker, DIR)
• Proficiency in payroll software (ADP, Paychex, Paycom, or similar)
• Strong Excel and data-entry accuracy
• Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
