Long Term Substitute - Middle School Librarian

The Long-Term Substitute Middle School Librarian is responsible for maintaining the daily operation of the school library and delivering established lessons and services during the regular librarian's absence. This position ensures students and staff continue to have consistent access to library resources, research support, and a safe, organized learning environment.
Essential Performance Responsibilities- Deliver pre-planned library and research lessons to students
- Support students with book selection and encourage independent reading
- Assist students with basic research skills and use of library resources
- Supervise students during scheduled library classes and open library period
- Manage daily circulation (check-in/check-out of materials)
- Maintain organization of shelves and library spaces
- Enforce established library procedures and behavior expectations
- Monitor and maintain a welcoming, orderly learning environment
- Communicate with classroom teachers regarding scheduling and lesson needs
- Follow existing curriculum plans and school guidelines
- Process returned materials and identify damaged items
- Follow established procedures for overdue notices
- Maintain existing displays and reading promotions
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Qualifications Profile- Teacher Certification
- State Certification as a Middle School Teacher
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
