Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineer
Are you passionate about building resilient, sustainable infrastructure? Do you want to gain a degree while gaining real on the job experience in Civil Engineering? Are you ready to commit to a four-year degree apprenticeship programme?
We are recruiting motivated individuals to join our team as Civil Engineering Degree Apprentices, an exciting opportunity to work, learn and grow your career in one of the UK’s most essential industries.
Our work is delivered through live civil engineering projects across the UK, giving apprentices valuable exposure to a wide range of sites and learning environments. As a result, applicants must be flexible and willing to travel and work away from home.
A full UK driving licence is essential, as travel to project locations will form a key part of the role.
You will split your time between working on projects and undertaking university level study. This blended programme creates a strong foundation in both academic theory and practical engineering skills.
As a Civil Engineering Degree Apprentice, you will:
- Support civil engineering tasks across design, construction and site-based activities.
- Learn industry-standard techniques for infrastructure planning and delivery.
- Work closely with experienced engineers to apply academic knowledge to real civil engineering projects.
- Attend university modules as part of your degree apprenticeship (Block Delivery).
What you will study:
Through the apprenticeship, you will work towards a BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering Degree, covering topics such as:
- Civil Engineering design, structural mechanics and geotechnics
- Water resource and flood risk management
- Project management and professional skills
- Work-based learning integrated with industry practice
We welcome candidates who:
- Are enthusiastic about pursuing a civil engineering career.
- Enjoy hands-on work and problem-solving.
- Are ready to commit to a four-year degree apprenticeship programme.
- Applicants will normally be expected to have previously achieved one of the following as a minimum:
- 48-72 UCAS tariff points from appropriate level 3 qualification such as A Levels, a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C, including Maths and English Language/Welsh
What you will get in return:
During your degree apprenticeship, you’ll benefit from a comprehensive package designed to support your development and reward your progress, including:
- A competitive apprentice salary, reviewed annually.
- A company pension scheme, subject to eligibility criteria.
- 21 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Travel and subsistence allowances while undertaking on-the-job training and working away from home.
- All training and tuition fees fully funded by the company.
Your salary will increase year on year as you gain further qualifications, skills and practical experience throughout the programme.
The recruitment process will include:
- An initial 15 minute telephone pre-screen to discuss your application and suitability for the role.
- A half-day assessment centre, where you will have the opportunity to further demonstrate your suitability for the role.
Applications close on 28th February 2026, with the assessment centre taking place during the week commencing 9th March 2026. Candidates invited to this stage will be contacted in advance with full details.
Our aim is for successful candidates to commence employment in August or early September, although we can be flexible on start dates for the right candidate.
