We want to continue to build on that spirit by adding a talented Accounting Manager to our team. Under the direction of the Controller, you will manage timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting. Responsibilities include managing the general ledger, month‑end and year‑end close, financial reporting of all Cakebread family entities, completing analysis, and providing guidance, development and support to direct reports.

What we will ask you to do
  • Ensure timely month‑end close
  • Manage and prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement and departmental expense summaries
  • Provide direction, leadership, and management. Provide necessary support and tools to staff to assist them in developing, implementing, and executing all events and activities with a high degree of quality
  • Issue financial statements to management with supporting narrative
  • Review and/or prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Review all accounts payable batches for appropriate expense coding and documentation approvals
  • Review all accounts receivable and billing batches
  • Analyze and review general ledgers for unusual items or incorrect postings
  • Review inventory costing for accuracy and unusual variances; report to management on notable trends and variances
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets, including farming activity budgets
  • Assist in tax related tasks including but not limited to: consolidating forecasts for taxable income analysis, coordinating tax distributions, dividend payments, and other shareholder distributions, and providing support required for tax return preparation
  • Support annual financial statement audit and tax return preparation
  • Partner with Controller, CFO and business partners to ensure timely and accurate financial data and analysis is provided to support key business decisions
What you should bring to the table
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or MBA a plus
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with 2+ years in a people management role
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all levels of an organization.
  • Proven leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems. AMS preferred
  • Wine industry experience or public accounting experience is desirable
  • Versatile and flexible person who can easily shift gears between fast‑paced, dynamic situations and more moderate paced situations, demonstrating patience and enthusiasm while retaining motivation and a strong sense of closure / completion
