Minimum RequirementsMatriculation Certificate
National Diploma / B Tech degree / B Com degree in safety Risk related Management science
3 – 5 year’s integrated management experience (Occupational Health, Safety, Environment and/or Quality systems, Processes and Process Mapping and operational management experience)
Mine Health and Safety Act
Knowledge of Any Mine Working Procedures - (Glencore, Valterra, Northam) is advantageous
Knowledge of HIRA

Valid Driver’s licence
Duties and Responsibilities- Control, review, and update SHEQ systems, legal compliance, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001.
- Incorporate SHEQ risks in the SHEQ risk registers.
- Compile, record and maintain SHEQ reports, Inspection records, goals, and targets.
- Report accurately and timeously.
- Implement existing policies and procedures and develop new local work procedures.
- Ensure compliance to Babcock’s and customer’s SHEQ requirements.
- Prepare, plan and audit SHEQ related criteria and compile audit reports. Create corrective actions and ensure closure.
- Report, record, investigate all internal and external SHEQ events and action recommendations.
- Manage all branch COID/RMA cases
- Report 10 SHEP Observations, Unsafe Act or Unsafe Condition.
- Promote a ‘Home Safe Everyday’ culture.
- Organise and facilitate SHEQ meetings.
- Implement and control SHEQ improvement plans.
- Monitor waste management and recycling.
- Branch housekeeping report and actions.
- Plan and conduct medical surveillance, alcohol, and drug testing programs.
- Ensure that PPE is appropriate for site requirements and branch conditions.
- Initiate, update and maintain client and contractor safety files. Ensure files are approved timeously.
- Review and update existing SHERQ documents on the Document Control Centre.
- Development of SHERQ documents and load on the Document Control Centre
- Update and close out corrective action requests on the CAR System
- Review and update risk assessments
- Ensure legal appointments are in place and updated
- Assess, record, monitor and close out SHEQ top 5 Risks.
- Schedule hygiene survey and action all high risks identified.
- Audit contractor safety files.
- Initiate, update and maintain all safety files. Ensure files are approved timeously.
- Accurate record keeping of Carbon footprint, Emergency evacuation, Events, Customer complaints, SHEQ related meeting minutes, SHEQ related inspections, Substance abuse documents, Inductions and MSDS’s .
- Conduct various toolbox talks including mandatory toolbox talks. SHEQ Processes and Procedures, SHEQ Risk Policy, Substance abuse policy, Noise induced hearing loss, Waste management, Emergency evacuations plan, Standing instructions, Internal training matrix specified training and Program-based toolbox talks.
- Develop and display safe work procedures for workplace and ensure training is conducted on safe work procedure.
- Conduct emergency evacuation drills and draw up evacuation post-mortem.
- Ensure all signage is correct for the workplace. Emergency evacuation roots displayed.
- Ensure First aid box supplies are as per specified Babcock standards and inspection records are kept.
- Attend and ensure compliance with client SHEQ audits. Close out all findings timeously.

- Plan and conduct medical surveillance alcohol and drug testing.
- Ensure PPE specifications are met.
- Assist with Tender applications.
- Prepare, submit, and maintain accurate SHERQ reports. Carbon footprint report, KPI Report, Manhours Report, Housekeeping report
