Planning Officer – Mining, North West, Rustenburg.

Salary: R50 000 per month.

Our client in the mining sector is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Planning Officer to join their operation in Rustenburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring short‑to‑medium‑term mine planning to ensure production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements.

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering or related qualification
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a mining planning role
• Previous mining contractor experience (non‑negotiable)
• Experience in underground mining (platinum environment advantageous)
• Proficient in mine planning software (e.g. MineRP, Deswik, Datamine, Surpac or similar)
• Advanced MS Excel and reporting skills
• Sound knowledge of the Mine Health & Safety Act
• Valid Driver’s License

• Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency
• Exposure to mechanised and/or conventional underground operations
• Experience in budgeting, cost tracking and contractor performance monitoring

• Develop and maintain short‑term and medium‑term mine plans
• Compile daily, weekly and monthly production schedules
• Monitor production performance against plan and report variances
• Coordinate planning inputs with Mining, Engineering, Geology and Survey departments
• Identify production bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions
• Track equipment availability and optimise resource utilisation
• Participate in planning and production meetings
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory standards
• Prepare detailed operational and planning reports
