Job Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
  • Assess patient needs and health plans by taking vital signs, history, medication list, visual acuity, and determining chief complaint; assess physical and mental status.
  • Complete all necessary documentation in the patient’s medical record per charting policy.
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
  • Administer prescribed oral medications and give injections (intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal); perform venipunctures and CLIA‑waived and non‑CLIA waived lab testing.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients and visitors, including cleaning, sterilizing, storing instruments, stocking rooms, and inventorying supplies.
  • Comply with personal protective equipment requirements to protect against exposure to blood, infectious fluids, chemical disinfectants, radiation, and hazardous substances.
  • Arrange specialized consultations and appointments for testing as ordered; notify insurance personnel for pre‑certification of surgeries or tests requiring it.
  • Answer office phones, assist front desk with scheduling, and direct calls appropriately.
  • Assist with patient checkout and referral processing and scheduling.
  • Assist with other functions of the physician practice as needed.
Education and Credentials

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licenses: Current credentialing (certification/registration). Must maintain credentialing with American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA‑CMA), NRCMA, NHA, NCCT, or American Medical Technologists (AMT‑RMA).

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Required Skills

Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, thrive in a stressful environment, and take appropriate action as needed.
