A bit about the serviceThe Squirrels is a warm, welcoming respite service for children with learning and physical disabilities plus complex health needs, offering our children a true home-from-home environment. We offer overnight short breaks for up to 4 children at a time, ensuring every child receives highly personalised care in a calm nurturing environment.
Our comfortable, homely setting is centred around a large communal living and kitchen area, creating a relaxed and inclusive space where children can feel safe, supported and cared for. With an exceptional nursing and care team at the heart of the service, The Squirrels is a place where compassion, dignity and high-quality care part of everything we do.
A bit about the roleWe are seeking a Registered Manager to lead a specialist, health lead children's home providing 24-hour nursing care for up to 4 children and young people aged 4 to 18 with complex health needs. This role requires a confident leader with proven Ofsted management experience and an understanding of CQC compliance regarding TDDI.
You will have overall responsibility for the quality, safety, and regulatory standards of the home, working in close partnership with the Clinical Lead, who manages the nursing team, together you will ensure seamless integration of care and nursing services.
You will lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team, embedding a culture of safeguarding, excellence, and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will be required to complete the fit persons interview for both the children's home and the clinical provision and will care play a key role in delivering outstanding outcomes for children and young people with learning and physical disabilities plus complex health needs.
How you’ll help to create brighter futures- Lead a specialist, health led children's home to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred care for children and young people with learning and physical disabilities plus complex health needs.
- Work in close partnership with the clinical lead, who manages the nursing team to ensure seamless care and clinical leadership.
- Embed outstanding safeguarding practises and create positive, inclusive culture where children, families and staff feel safe, valued, and supported.
- Drive continuous improvement to achieve strong Ofsted outcomes
- Ensure compliance with CQC requirements, specifically in relation to Treatment of Disease and Disorder and Injury (TDDI).
- Build effective relationships with families, commissioners, schools, social care and Health to secure best possible outcomes for every child.
- Level 5 diploma in leadership and management for residential childcare (or equivalent as defined by the DF E children's home regulations 2015)
- Experience as a manager in an Ofsted regulated service, driving continuous improvement to achieve strong Ofsted outcomes ensure CQC compliance, with specific responsibility for meeting the TDDI requirements under CQC regulation.
- Demonstrable experience of leading and motivating teams, setting high standards and improving outcomes through positive, visible leadership.
- confident working with children and young people who have complex health needs, alongside profound learning and physical disabilities skilled in managing resources and budgets, using systems and data effectively, and working flexibly including participation in our on-call rota.
