Located in Runcorn, United Kingdom, our newly extended 120,000 sq. ft. facility is a fully integrated site offering comprehensive manufacturing, repair, and overhaul services to the major players in the landing gear industry. Designated as a Center of Excellence, the facility specializes in surface treatment and assembly of small to medium sized landing gear systems. As a key part of the Centre of Division, it supports several global programs, including:
Gripen – SAAB, Hawk – BAE Systems, KF21 – Hanwha Aerospace, AW101 – Leonardo Helicopters. With a strong focus on cutting‑edge technology, advanced manufacturing processes, and lean techniques, we are committed to delivering high‑value, precision‑engineered components for complex landing gear systems.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Machinist to produce high‑precision aerospace components to exacting standards. The role involves operating two CNC Cylindrical Grinders (Jones & Shipman) to grind chrome plating, nickel plating, and steel parts to tight tolerances. The successful candidate will be able to interpret aerospace technical drawings and support the production cycle with polishing and turning components. There are opportunities for training in additional machining disciplines, including honing and super‑finishing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture conforming aerospace components within required time frames.
  • Operate Jones & Shipman CNC cylindrical grinders to achieve precise dimensions and surface finish requirements.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, including technique sheets and production orders.
  • Use calibrated precision measuring equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating initiative and problem‑solving skills.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven CNC grinding experience.
  • Relevant vocational or technical qualification in Machining or Engineering (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances.
  • Skilled in interpreting complex engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in using various types of precision measuring equipment.
  • Experience working in CNC and manual cylindrical/internal grinding.
  • Experience operating Jones & Shipman cylindrical grinders (desirable).
  • Familiarity with chrome, nickel, and cadmium plating processes (desirable).
