Financial Accountant (6 month contract) Runcorn £40,000 - £45,000 Join a fast-moving team to deliver a critical support over the next six months (with potential to go permanent). Joining the UK Finance team in a leading distribution business you will be be involved in a dynamic hands-on role where you'll play a key part in shaping high-quality accounting, compliance, and reporting across four UK and Ireland entities.
Working closely with the Finance Controller, this role offers real exposure, responsibility, and the chance to make a tangible impact in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. What You'll Be Doing As a core member of the UK Finance team, you will:
Own general ledger activities including reconciliations, journals, cost allocations, payroll validation, lease administration, and fixed asset management. Produce, review, and validate management accounts, ensuring accuracy and insight. Support audits by preparing schedules and coordinating high-quality supporting documentation. Manage accounts payable processes, including vendor setup and bank verification, purchase order management (overheads), reconciliations, issue resolution, and manual payment controls. Prepare sundry fiscal and statutory reporting.
Deliver ad hoc analysis and provide hands-on support to the Finance Controller as needed.
What You'll Bring Experience & Qualifications Graduate, AAT/CIMA qualified, or qualified by experience, with at least 5 years' finance experience Background in a large, fast-paced environment
Experience with multi-currency transactions and working alongside shared service centres Exposure to D365 and BI tools is advantageous Advanced Excel skills are essential Key Competencies Highly accurate, detail-oriented, and thorough Strong ability to prioritise, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing demands High level of integrity and professionalism A collaborative team player who enjoys supporting others and sharing knowledge If you are available in the next 4 weeks and feel this is something that may be of interest - reach out!
