Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring recent specialty experience and a NM or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Med/Surg and ICU setting

• Patient ratios are 1:7 for Med/Surg and 1:3 for ICU

• Bed count includes 13 Med/Surg beds and 6 ICU beds

• Day and night rotations with 12-hour shifts and weekends as needed

• Floating between departments and within local locations up to 20 miles is required

• No specific scrub color or pattern required

• Uses Epic EMR; onsite training available if needed

• Provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient needs

• Collaborate with patient, family, and healthcare team to coordinate patient care

• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols

• Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel as needed

• Must complete patient population, procedure, and protocol education and competency testing per unit standards

• Basic cardiac arrhythmia test required during orientation; must pass within two attempts to remain eligible

• No charge or precepting responsibilities are required

Requirements

• Active New Mexico or Compact State RN license required

• Minimum two years of current Med/Surg experience required

• At least one previous 13-week travel assignment required

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross required

• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required

• English proficiency required (speak, read, write)

• Epic EMR experience preferred but not required

• Candidates must live over 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted

• Former perm staff must wait at least one year before being eligible for consideration as a traveler
