Maintenance Technician at Heart of America Medical Center
The Preventative Maintenance Technician helps with all phases of hospital equipment, maintenance, and repair. Other areas such as security, remodeling, and grounds are also required for this job.
Job Requirements- Must be a high school graduate; college courses related to the position are helpful but not necessary.
- At least two years experience in building maintenance. Heavy lifting of 75 pounds or more is a normal requirement.
- Maintain a valid North Dakota Driver’s License and maintain insurability with the facilities insurance carrier.
- Safeguard the privacy and security of protected health information (PHI) in any form.
- Exhibits a positive professional approach when dealing with the public, and demonstrates solution‑oriented involvement with problems of facility, staff and patients/residents.
- Attendance and involvement in required quality monitoring programs.
- Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Conduct routine inspection and testing of plant equipment.
- Investigate any report of equipment malfunction, and report findings to Dir.
- Document repairs and inspections performed as required in the Preventative Maintenance Program (WORXHUB).
- Complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Work safely in accordance with all Facility and Departmental Safety Policies.
- Complete all required annual safety training.
- Be familiar with the policies and procedures of the Engineering Department.
- Report or repair any safety violation or condition immediately.
- Promote a culture of safety to improve employee safety within the facility and/or department.
- Support the Hospital and Departmental Philosophy.
- Maintain a positive attitude in work.
- Communicate with public and fellow staff members.
- Assist in maintenance of grounds.
- Assist in remodeling of the building.
- Participate in quality assurance and continuous quality improvement studies as directed by the Departmental Manager.
- Other assigned duties.
Frequent exposure to communicable disease, bodily fluids, sharps, hazardous materials, and other conditions common to the operation of a physical plant and a health care facility.
Typical Physical DemandsRequires full range of body motion in handling and lifting supplies and equipment, with bending, stooping, and stretching while performing maintenance and installation. Manual and finger dexterity along with eye‑hand coordination is needed. Requires lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds. Requires vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to read blueprints, schematics, and distinguish colors, letters, and symbols.
Must work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
