Senior Paraplanner – Trowlock Wealth Management LLP
We are seeking a dedicated, friendly and technically‑mindful career paraplanner to join our busy and small advisory and technical team based in Rugby. Trowlock is an established practice focusing on HNW individuals, with a head office in Surrey. OverviewSenior Paraplanner responsibilities include providing technical paraplanning support to the Practice, working closely with the Advisory and Admin Team to achieve client objectives, preparing financial planning solutions and ensuring all advice is compliant, accurate and client‑focused.
Responsibilities- Provide high‑level technical paraplanning support, ensuring clients receive best financial strategies, plans and products.
- Work closely with the Advisory and Admin Team to achieve client objectives, identify effective financial planning areas and source suitable solutions.
- Understand and challenge recommendations to ensure correct, compliant and suitable advice.
- Construct planning solutions (investment, retirement, tax and estate) supported by cash‑flow modelling and client requirements.
- Communicate with SJP support departments, advisers and relevant parties to complete cases in a compliant, high‑quality manner.
- Handle and own cases from start to finish.
- Consider current and future asset allocation for an appropriate investment strategy relative to client risk.
- Compile clear, comprehensive reports with recommendations in compliance with standards.
- Prepare illustrations to match recommendations.
- Serve as a technical query resource, supporting the full client journey with positive outcomes.
- Assist with post‑review meeting case work, including SL reports and follow‑up technical tasks.
- Run CYC and/or other key technical calculations (e.g., LTA, ISC, IHT, CGT) when required and prepare supporting documentation.
- Assist with preparation of all tax calculations when necessary.
- Obtain information, quotes, illustrations and product details for meaningful analysis.
- Assist with client review meeting preparation involving technical comparisons or calculations.
- Maintain and update templates and advice notes.
- At least 3 years of paraplanning experience in an SJP practice (preferred) or a wealth‑management environment.
- Minimum Level 4 Diploma PFS qualified or in progress (or FPC qualified with significant industry experience).
- Chartered Financial Planner status advantageous but not essential.
- Familiar with major research systems (e.g., FE Analytics, Voyant).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Experience in the pension transfer market.
- Experience with administration of IHT, trusts and investment products.
- Competent in creating, adapting and writing SL reports using system templates and internal processes.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant regulation and legislation.
- Accurately transposes client information and financial data in a compliant manner.
- Proactive mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong numeracy skills.
- Confident in dealing with third parties while maintaining discretion.
- Highly organised with excellent communication skills.
- Effective time management with the ability to multitask.
- Stays calm under pressure, especially when faced with conflicting demands.
- Displays a positive attitude at all times.
- Works well independently and as part of a wider team with shared goals.
- Willing to travel to Esher and/or London (average once a month).
- Hybrid working (one day per week from home).
