To ensure that the planned and corrective maintenance of Colas owned and contracted rail vehicles is effectively undertaken ensuring that safety, compliance, availability and reliability is upheld.

The job holder will have experience in rail vehicle engineering and maintenance, specifically On‑Track Machines (OTM’s). Additionally the job holder will have experience of maintenance, repair, fault finding, asset management systems and leading change. The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of the rail operating environment, standards and safety procedures. The job holder will be a motivated self‑starter, an able and clear communicator, dynamic and tenacious.

The job holder will be required to reside in the area for which they are responsible for.

• Experienced as a plant maintenance technician with On‑Track Machines.
• Apprentice trained, HNC/Degree or working towards approved professional qualification is advantageous.
• Possess high level of technical knowledge with regard to the maintenance and repair of On‑Track Machines (Including PIC system & Red Safe systems).
• Demonstrate key technical skills over and above routine maintenance.
• Good understanding and experience in the application of safety legislation and corporate safety procedures.
• Commercially aware and adaptive to needs of the business.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, external organisations and management.
• Experience of cost control management.
