Job Description Summary
Power Conversion & Storage (part of GE Vernova) is a world leader in Automation & Controls Systems for the Marine Industry. We are looking for an experienced software engineer to join our team of experts in a role that combines engineering skills with software implementation.
In this role you will lead efforts in maintaining and developing the Dynamic Positioning System product encompassing controllers, interfaces and HMI. You will play a critical role in ensuring the Safety, Security, Reliability and Performance of this system. A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can develop talent.
Key Responsibilities- Lead development activities for the DP System ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations e.g. IEC 62443
- Specify and lead implementation efforts to expand the capability of the existing system and associated tools, for continuous improvement and/or simplification
- Analyse and identify performance bottlenecks within applications and implement optimizations to enhance overall application performance and responsiveness
- Modernisation and porting of existing functionality to new platforms and/or operating systems as required. Support discussions with stakeholders to map out the future strategy for DP Systems
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Solid experience on working in automation/control or a similar technical discipline
- Practical experience of cross platform programming:
Embedded Systems in C/C++, Windows C/C++/C# - Proven experience in writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code
- Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects to strict timescales
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to Automation & Controls Validation
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to mentor a team
- Experience in Power, Marine, Oil and Gas, Industrial domain
- Experience in Cyber Security
