We are currently looking to recruit a Medical Receptionist at Bennfield Surgery to join our friendly Reception team.
This is a permanent position for a minimum of 30 hours perweek, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:30.
The contracted hours of work will be:
Monday
12:30-18:30
Tuesday
08:00-14:00
Thursday
08:00-14:00
Friday
12:30-18:30
We will require flexibility from 08:00-18:30 to cover any sickness and holiday when needed.
Main duties of the jobSome reception duties as well as administration work,including:
- Dealing with incoming and outgoing calls from patient sand professionals
- Responding appropriately to online triage requests from the duty doctor
- Handling queries from patients and professionals face to face.

Previous experience is desirable, but not essential, as training will be provided.
About usWe currently have a team of 22 at Bennfield Surgery. This includes 4 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 3 GP Trainee Registrars, 1 ACP, 2 Nurses, 1 HCA, 7 Receptionists, a Reception Team Leader, an Reception/Admin Supervisor and a Practice Manager.
We are looking for a further Receptionist to joinour friendly Reception team.
Job responsibilitiesDuties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the practice administration team may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the practice management team, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels:
- Opening up/locking-up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
- Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
- Taking messages and passing on information
- Filing and retrieving paperwork
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
- Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
- Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required; and helping to keep the kitchen area clean and tidy
- Keeping the reception area, noticeboards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
