Overview

Location: Tunbridge Wells (hybrid working - 1 / 2days in the office)

Role Type: Contract - 6 months

The Role:

This is a key position within the AXA Health Compliance Function, reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer and Head of Legal for the Health Division.

The role will be responsible for developing, maintaining and operating the compliance framework to ensure the business operates within regulatory expectations.

The role holder will also ensure that the business operates within the Board-approved risk appetite framework, adhering to relevant compliance policies and managing effective relationships with key regulators.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the review, implementation and delivery of the Compliance Framework for the UK Branch
  • Implementation of the minimum standards required (including the implementation of compliance internal standards)
  • Interact with the Risk functions to ensure regulatory controls environment and control activities are sufficient for Conduct and Compliance risk.
  • Reviews the current state of compliance risk, issues, and action being taken in the function by reference to compliance monitoring and management information
  • To oversee and ensure adequacy of the appropriate provision of expert advice and support to the UK Branch first line in relation to regulation to enable them to understand and meet their regulatory obligations.
  • Drive the development, embedding and maintenance of an appropriate and effective Governance Framework within the UK Branch.
  • Oversight of documentation of conflicts of interests within the UK Branch
  • Management of the Fitness and Probity regime for the UK Branch (In conjunction with HR)
  • Manage the implementation and maintenance of relevant governance policies and procedures ensuring compliance with AXA Standards and relevant regulations.
  • Monitor and report to the Board, Audit & Risk Committee, ExCom and relevant Risk Management Committee.
  • Monitor the UK Branch compliance risks and issues (in particular relating to regulatory compliance and financial crime related matters) and other risk and compliance MI as required by the business and AXA Group
  • To provide support to the wider Compliance function across the AXA Health Division providing advice on general regulatory compliance, financial crime and governance matters.
  • Acts as the lead Compliance contact for all business functions relating to the UK Branch
Qualifications / Skills & Experience
  • Health Insurance / Insurance industry experience is essential
  • Preferred SMF 16 and PCF 12 experience within a regulated financial services firm in a regulatory compliance role
  • Previous experience implementing regulatory frameworks
  • Experience in managing regulatory relationships (FCA and PRA)
  • Stakeholder management skills - ability to develop strong professional relationships with Senior Managers and Board Members, requiring strong influencing and communication skills
  • Ability to understand and assimilate complex information quickly and accurately
  • Demonstrable integrity, able to give leadership on matters of regulatory and ethical importance
  • Effective report writing and written skills
